Almost 20 years married and I find myself a single mom with 2 teenage sons. Sold our home and most of our possessions to make it on very little...how will I make it?
Most of my adult life was dedicated to caring for a husband and 3 children, one of which was my husband's daughter from a first marriage. I worked at different part-time jobs so that I could stay home to raise my children and be ready to move with each of my husband's job changes. Now I find myself having to provide a home, food on the table, and all the other expenses of having 15 and 17 year old boys.
How will I do it? Stunned and frightened of all that I went through to bring me to this point of uncertainty...it never added up on paper. More going out than coming in, how can that be? Always had enough to pay the bills and keep the refrigerator full. It had to be a God thing! I gave it up to Him and He took control.
Through it all I became a licensed Life and Health Insurance agent and started a career for the first time. I was more than surviving...I was thriving! Through it all I strengthened my faith in Him. Attended a wonderful church that was very supportive of single parents. Made lasting relationships that helped see me through the rough spots. Joy and laughter was returning to my life.
Then, there he was across the room. We were at a singles function at church. He smiled at me and I smiled back. I could see the fear in his eyes as he stood alone in the huge room filled with people. I approached him and explained how the evening would go, since I had been to many such functions. He was appreciative and settled in to the evening that would change both of our lives forever...
Thank you God...You are watching over me!

God Wanted My Attention
So this is blogging...wow! Do I have a story to tell. Hang onto your seats this could be a bumpy ride.
Life started out very much like "Leave it to Beaver"...dad went to work and mom stayed home to raise 6 children. So, what would I have to blog about if I had such a great childhood?
God wanted my attention and I wasn't listening. Life moved along as normal - played in the neighborhood with childhood friends, went to school, dating heartaches, marriage, children...all the fun stuff of life.
I was a soccer mom and hung out with other soccer moms. Life was good. I had a husband that made a good living so that I could stay home if I chose to. Life went on with very little bumps in the road. Then one day, God wanted my attention...
I woke to a phone call one morning that my husband at the time, was in jail and needed a lawyer. He had received a "DUI". My first experience in the legal world. My life as I knew it would be turned completely upside down.
Without going into too much detail...that "DUI" was just a cover to a "Dateline-like" experience. No more to be said...I had to get out of an almost 20 year marriage to protect my children and me. Ok, God...You have my attention.
